MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Belgeologiya specialists have discovered a new oil deposit in Oktyabr District of Gomel Oblast, BelTA learned from Deputy Director General of the company Yaroslav Gribik.
The hydrocarbon deposit was found during the testing of exploratory well Yuzhno-Vishanskaya No. 34. The oil influx is estimated at five cubic meters per day. Geologists continue drilling the well.
At the same time specialists explore two more oil deposits in Svetlogorsk and Kalinkovichi districts of Gomel Oblast.
In 2011 Belgeologiya is tasked to increase commercial oil reserves to 400,000 tonnes. In order to meet this target the geologists explore new territories. “We have some problems with unstable oil influxes as the deposits are small. Thus in H2 2011 we will accelerate works to drill new wells. Among them is Prokhorovskaya No. 13 which is located at Prokhorovskoye oil deposit,” Yaroslav Gribik said. In September there are plans to drill Novoberezinskaya well in Zhlobin District. One more project will be implemented in Svetlogorsk District.
Belarusian geologists are going to use new methods of research while looking for oil. Particularly, they will increase the depth of search for hydrocarbons. Specialists have already drilled a well in Mogilev Oblast with the project depth of 5,100 meters.
The search for new oil deposits is envisaged by the state program of geological prospecting works to develop the mineral resources base of Belarus till 2020. The document stipulates raising the country’s fuel and energy capacity, finding and developing new deposits of construction materials and other non-metallic feeds, evaluating the availability of mineral resources in Belarus, etc.
Belgeologiya explores of all mineral resources in Belarus and monitors the country’s reserves. With the assistance of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry the company deals with prospective planning of geological prospecting works.
