Belarus-Latvia passenger train service resumed

MINSK, 2 June (BelTA) - Passenger train service between Belarus and Latvia has been resumed, the press service of Belarusian Railways told BelTA. A Latvian train arrived in Minsk in the morning of 2 June while a Belarusian train arrived in the Latvian capital. Passenger train service between Belarus and Latvia has been resumed on the basis of parity with Latvian Railways, said the source. Along with regular passengers this morning’s train delivered a delegation of the Latvian Transport Ministry led by State Secretary Anrijs Matiss. The train also delivered representatives of Latvian Railways, the Latvian company L-Ekspresis, which specializes in servicing international trains, and Latvian reporters. The representatives of Latvian mass media will get familiar with Belarus’ tourism potential, operation and development prospects of the passenger branch of Belarusian Railways. Minsk-Riga train service was resumed in line with the interstate passenger train service schedule for 2011-2012. In summer the train will deliver passengers from Minsk to Riga every day. It leaves Minsk at 20:07 to arrive in Riga at 8:00. It leaves Riga at 19:00 to arrive in Minsk at 7:31. In winter the train will deliver passengers from Minsk to Riga on Fridays and Sundays only.
