Eurasian Economic Commission Council in agreement on parts of Eurasian integration strategy

Members of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission met on 6 February to polish the draft strategic guidelines on advancing Eurasian economic integration till 2025. An agreement was reached on several more items the document stipulates, the commission's press service told BelTA.

Previously the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council instructed governments of the Eurasian Economic Union member states to get in touch with the Eurasian Economic Commission in order to polish the document and forward it for consideration of the council in April. About 100 items have yet to be agreed. "Most of the measures and mechanisms are fully compliant with the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty and the declaration on further advancement of integration processes that the heads of state have signed," Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

During the meeting on 6 February members of the council came to an agreement on several items that had not been agreed before. The council will reconvene in a week.

"The work has become more intensive. The sides manage to come to terms virtually on all debatable issues," Member of the Board (Minister) for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission Sergei Glazyev said after the meeting.

The draft strategic guidelines on advancing Eurasian economic integration till 2025 stipulate measures and mechanisms, which will ultimately allow finishing the formation of the regulatory foundation for cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Union member states in addition to raising implementation standards of supranational and national institutions of the Eurasian Economic Union and ensuring the harmonization and synchronization of approaches of EAEU member states to defining and regulating new cooperation directions.

If the document is approved by the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council is supposed to approve it in May, the source added.
