Latushko hopes to enhance Belarus-Russia cooperation in cinema

VITEBSK, 14 July (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in strengthening cooperation with Russia in the cinema industry, Culture Minister of Belarus Pavel Latushko told reporters after the meeting with Culture Minister of Russia Alexander Avdeyev, BelTA has learned. “We have discussed joint film production. Russia is our main partner in this area. Taking into account the amendments in the Belarusian tax legislation, we now have additional prospects to implement joint cinema projects,” Pavel Latushko said. The ministers discussed an opportunity to bring back original films, which belong to the golden collection of the national cinema industry and are now stored in Russian archives, to Belarus with the help of the Russian Culture Ministry. “We have been working on it since 1998 and we hope that Russia will help us to get off the ground,” Pavel Latushko noted.
