33 years on guard of the economic interests of the Republic of Belarus

On September 20, customs officials celebrate Customs Officer's Day. Today, the customs service is stable and confident in its capabilities. She has something to be proud of and something to strive for.

Thus, in the first half of 2024 alone, the amount of customs and other payments received by the budget increased by almost 60% compared to the same period in 2023.

Reducing the time of release of goods is one of the priority tasks facing the customs authorities. 90% of import declarations are processed within an hour, 91% of export declarations - within 5 minutes.

For the fastest possible clearance, Vitebsk Customs uses modern technologies. The work of the electronic declaration center has shown a positive result. Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of vehicles released into free circulation for personal use has almost tripled.

Law enforcement officers of the Vitebsk customs revealed more than 2 thousand administrative offenses in just eight months of 2024. More than four dozen criminal cases have been initiated, both by customs and other law enforcement agencies on customs materials. In the last 3 months alone, customs officials have stopped the import into the territory of the EAEU of more than 180 kg of hashish hidden in the spare wheels of a truck, 39 firearms cartridges hidden in personal belongings, and a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance – amphetamine, located under a mobile phone case; cultural values.

Vitebsk region customs officers are always open and attentive to the needs of seriously ill people, veterans, social shelters, centers for disabled children. Their grateful feedback confirms this.

It should be noted that this year we have accepted into our ranks the 1st graduates of the specialty "customs" of the Faculty of Law of the Polotsk State University. And these are 13 young and trained specialists!

The starting point in the work of every young customs officer is traditionally considered to be the solemn taking of the Oath. On the eve of the professional holiday, 20 young employees of the Vitebsk customs, along with their colleagues from other customs offices, took the oath of allegiance to the Motherland in the Brest fortress. About 170 customs officials took part in this large-scale and landmark event. The chiefs of 8 customs offices of Belarus took the Oath.

On September 20, a solemn meeting was held within the walls of the Vitebsk Customs, at which the head of customs, Sergei Linkevich, presented state awards and various types of incentives with words of gratitude.On this day, more than 20 employees of the Vitebsk Customs received their well-deserved awards.

In conclusion, Sergey Linkevich expressed sincere gratitude to his colleagues for their hard work, perseverance, diligence and endurance, for their dedication to the cause for the benefit of the Motherland! He expressed special respect and recognition to the veterans of the customs service, who have created a solid foundation for the modern customs service of the Republic of Belarus.
