Belarus’ cooperation with OSCE, CIS missions productive

MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) – Following recommendations of international organizations Belarus has done a lot to improve its election laws and law enforcement procedures, said Andrei Savinykh, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, on 23 December. The changes were aimed to make the election process transparent and to enable equal conditions for presidential candidates. The changes were also supposed to expand opportunities for carrying out an agitation campaign, said Andrei Savinykh. The CIS, OSCE and all member states of these organizations were invited to monitor the election in advance. Neither the number of foreign observers nor their stay in the country was limited. Over one thousand observers were sent by the CIS, OSCE and their parliamentary bodies. Belarus secured open and productive cooperation with the CIS and OSCE missions and created all the necessary conditions for their smooth operation. The fact had been repeatedly confirmed by heads of these missions, said Andrei Savinykh.
