MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) - The reality is such that today Belarus is the one country that demonstrates to the entire world how one’s sovereignty, stability and security ought to be upheld, but one must always remain vigilant and keep one’s powder dry, said President Alexander Lukashenko on February 23 in a speech delivered at a reception for the top military and law enforcement officers on the occasion of Fatherland Defender and Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus’ Day, BelTA has learnt. According to the President, given today’s situation, it is particularly necessary that the heads of the law enforcement agencies, each officer should show utmost commitment to their duty and responsibility for creating an enabling environment for the productive labor of the Belarusian people. The head of state said, “Challenging tasks lie ahead of us, including the implementation of the new National Security Concept, further modernization of the Armed Forces, and ensuring a high level of combat readiness and morale in the forces. For this, you have not only the necessary resources but also the main thing – an exemplary support of the State and the people, understanding by each and every citizen of his role in the defense of the Fatherland, responsibility for maintaining peace and stability in our common Belarusian home.” According to Alexander Lukashenko, each man in uniform today, either a military man or a member of any other security agency, is an example of courage, honesty and decency, which is why this challenging but noble profession of the Fatherland defender is held in such high esteem in the society.
