Lukashenko invites UK, Irish businessmen to partake in privatization in Belarus

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has invited businessmen from the UK and Ireland to take part in the privatization of Belarusian companies and creation of new production facilities. The head of state made this statement as he met with representatives of business circles of these countries on 14 March, BelTA has learnt. “We will not hide anything, including facilities slated for privatization. If you want to take part in this process, you are more than welcome. If you want to set up new companies in Belarus that will operate within the framework of the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, you get the green light,” the President said. He added that there are things Belarus can learn from these countries and things it can offer. Alexander Lukashenko noted that he had studied the proposals put forward by the attending businessmen and assured that “there were no proposals that did not interest us”. However, the President urged the participants of the meeting to make up their mind fast regarding their operation in Belarus. “We will do everything we can to help you start a business as early as in H1 or by the end of this year at the latest,” the head of state assured. Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus guarantees stability and predictability for foreign business. “I think the most important thing about a country where a businessman brings his capital and wants to start a business is stability and predictability. We can offer you that,” he said. The head of state added that he is glad that representatives of the business community of the UK and Ireland have an opportunity to see Belarus with their own eyes, the country that is vigorously developing, the country is the heart of Europe. On behalf of all the attendees, Managing Director of Stemcor Holdings Limited David Faktor expressed interest in doing business in Belarus. In his view, the meeting with representatives of the Belarusian government promises great cooperation prospects. He said that at present he views Belarus as an honest and reliable partner.
