Lukashenko orders to scrutinize education pricing

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has ordered to carefully examine prices for education services as he heard out a report by Belarus’ Education Minister Sergei Maskevich. The report dealt with the major trends of higher learning in Belarus and execution of presidential instructions, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service. Attending the meeting was First Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Administration Alexander Radkov. Alexander Lukashenko ordered to thoroughly examine the pricing of education services to make sure that the prices are adequate and in compliance with the contracts. “Strangely enough, I receive information (I do not claim it is true, but there is no smoke without fire) that heads of universities set prices arbitrarily,” the President said. He explained that sometimes they impose additional fees without due cause.
