Over 1,000 international observers accredited in Belarus

MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) – The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus has accredited 1,015 international observers to monitor the presidential election in Belarus, BelTA learnt from the CEC. According to the CEC, they include 406 representatives of the OSCE/ODIHR, 261 representatives of the CIS and six members of the CIS Permanent Committee. Besides, the CEC accredited MPs from other states (82 members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, 45 members of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, ten members of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly and 48 foreign MPs). Monitoring the presidential election in Belarus will also be 24 representatives of foreign CECs, 50 representatives of the diplomatic community and 83 independent observers, including prominent foreign politicians who will provide an independent assessment of the election. Belarus leads the CIS and the world in terms of the number of international observers per one polling station.
