LIOZNO, 16 February (BelTA) – The Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee has submitted a proposal to set up a linen-processing holding company to the government, BelTA learnt from Deputy Vitebsk Oblast Governor Vladimir Novatski.
The future holding is expected to bring together Orsha Linen Mill, other flax processing plants and linen farms in Belarus, the Linen Institute under the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, clothing companies Znamya Industrializatsii (Vitebsk) and Svitanak (Orsha).
The holding is created in order to boost the output of linen products thus increasing the profitability of linen growing and processing industries. The Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee also proposes to reorganizer the linen mills. The mills in Vitebsk Oblast may undergo a large scale modernization. For instance, some Br4 billion will be invested to purchase new equipment for Liozno Linen Mill. It will also help expand the lineup of products.
Vladimir Novatski added that the NASB also drafts its proposal. He believes that the holding may start operating in 2011 already.
