PETRIKOV REGION, 27 April (BelTA) – A hard presidential election campaign awaits Belarus, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko when talking to residents of the Petrikov Region, Gomel oblast on 27 April.
“We have the main campaign ahead of us, a very hard one. If the incumbent president has to participate in the campaign, it will be even harder,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
“You see, some people both in the West and the East don’t like the incumbent president. Naturally they are itching to have their finger in the pie. I am not worried about it, I just want to tell you that we cannot relax,” stressed the head of state.
He also added: “Frankly speaking I’ve had enough of this job. If you find another president, there will be no fear. Sooner or later one has to be found. If you find him, fine with me”. Addressing residents of the Petrikov Region, Alexander Lukashenko expressed hope: “If I am not the president and come here, I hope you will not refuse to meet with me, to help me out like I helped you out once”.
The President underlined one more time that relaxing is not an option. Belarus should avoid the way things went in other republics, for instance, the recent events in Kyrgyzstan. “We don’t need that. If someone applauds it and is glad, the someone is not the Kyrgyz people because such revolutions kick the development of the state and the nation dozens of years backwards. Who will pull them out? You, the people, will,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
