Belarusian-Chinese Innovation Center opens in BSU

MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Chinese Innovation Center opened in Belarus State University on 20 July, BelTA learned from the BSU press service. According to BSU Rector Sergei Ablameiko, the university has reached a new level of the sci-tech cooperation; it has set up the first joint innovation center in Belarus and China. The Belarusian-Chinese Innovation Center will become a foundation of the sci-tech cooperation, the foundation which will unite not only the scientists but their experience as well. The center will help both the countries introduce the up-to-date scientific technologies into the economy of Belarus and China on the basis of the mutual economic and scientific benefits. The Belarusian-Chinese Innovation Center has been set up in line with the Belarus State Innovation Development Program for 2005-2010 by Belarus State University and the Science and Technology Department of the Harbin People’s Government (Heilongjiang Province, China). According to Deputy Chair of the Heilongjiang Province People’s Government Professor Sun Yao, the main goal of the center is to coordinate and implement joint innovation projects. The Belarusian-Chinese Innovation Center will promote the introduction of new innovation products in both the countries, promote scientific achievements at the foreign markets. BSU is playing host to the exhibition dedicated to the cooperation of Belarus State University with Chinese educational and research organizations. The exhibition was prepared jointly with the BSU Confucius National Institute. The main mission of the center is to coordinate the cooperation between Belarus State University and educational, research and industrial organizations of Harbin, the Heilongjiang Province and all China. In June 2010 an office of the Belarusian-Chinese Innovation Center was opened in Harbin. Many regions of China show interest in creation of such centers including the Chinese provinces of Zhejiang, Liaoning and Jilin.
