MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – China supports Belarus’ efforts to advance socially and economically and condemns any interference in Belarus’ domestic affairs on any grounds. This statement is set out in the joint communique adopted during the official visit of Vice-President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to Belarus, BelTA has learnt.
China confirmed its respect and understanding of the development path chosen by the Belarusian people as consistent with the interests of their country and the socially focused domestic policy and multi-vector foreign policy.
Belarus, in turn, confirmed its support for the One-China policy opposing Taiwan’s accession to any international organizations which accept only sovereign states and pledged not to establish any official contacts with Taiwan. “The Belarusian side supports the peaceful development of relations across the two shores of the Taiwan Strait and the peaceful unification of China believing that the Taiwan issue is a domestic matter of China that outside forces have no right to interfere in”, the communique says.
Belarus points out that Tibet and Xinjiang are an integral part of China and stands against any intervention in China’s domestic affairs using Tibet or Xinjiang as pretexts.
The document states that the support that Belarus and China offer to each other is a testimony to the high level of political trust between the states.
The sides reiterated their interest in the close cooperation in education, science, culture, youth policy and tourism to enhance the mutual understanding of the two peoples and strengthen the social foundation of the Belarusian-Chinese friendship. The sides agreed to intensify cooperation between the universities of the two states, promote the study of the Chinese and Belarusian languages and exchange linguists.
