Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Minister of Government of Cuba, is expected to visit Belarus on February 26-28. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Omar Medina Quintero told BelTA, the fact confirms the intention of Cuba’s new leadership to continue the policy of building up friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation with Belarus. In particular, during the Minister of Government’s visit to Minsk Belarus and Cuba are expected to coordinate their actions aimed at expanding the bilateral ties. The Minister of Government is supposed to visit Minsk Automobile Plant. Bilateral documents will also be signed. Omar Medina Quintero pointed out, Cuba is intent on enhancing contacts with Belarus. “Our friendship and cooperation are strong and indestructible,” stressed the Ambassador. BelTA reported earlier, on February 24 the National Assembly of Cuba elected Raul Castro the President of the Council of State, the supreme government position in Cuba. The President of the Council of State is the head of state and government and is the commander in chief. Raul Castro succeeded his brother Fidel Castro, who had been leading the country for 49 years.
