Day of libraries to be held at exhibition Books of Belarus 2008

The day of libraries will be held within the framework of the 15th international exhibition and fair Books of Belarus 2008. On February 8, participants of the exposition will hold sessions, presentations and business talks, first Deputy Information Minister Lilia Ananich told BelTA. A sitting of the roundtable “Libraries, publishing houses and book trade organizations: models of cooperation in setting up of single information area” will be held. The Belarusian Information Ministry and the National library are the organizers of the roundtable. Moreover, specialists will visit the seminar “New technologies in book trade of Russia: 1. Book certificate. 2. Information accumulation and search of published literature”. Taking part in the seminar will be specialists of the book trade of Belarus and Russia. Israel – the honorary guest of the exhibition – has prepared an interesting display and a programme for guests of the book forum as well. Israeli writers, book publishers and the people engaged in culture have arrived in Belarus to attend the exhibition. The Minsk international book fair Books of Belarus 2008 is being held in the exhibition centre Belexpo. It will be running through February 10. The forum has been organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry, the Belarusian Association of Book Publishers and Book Traders, PK OOO Makbel. Taking part in the forum are more than 600 exhibitors from 20 countries worldwide. The programme of the exhibition includes 120 various events: seminars, roundtables, presentation of books and publishing houses, working and art sessions, consultations, performances and shows. The exhibitions “Golden Fund of Belarusian Poster”, “Books Art 2007” will be held within the framework of the forum. This year the admission to the book forum will be free.
