MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – Individuals traveling to or from a country outside the Customs Union must declare any cash of over $10,000 (or the equivalent in other currencies). This is stipulated in the agreement on the movement by individuals of cash money and (or) money instruments across the customs border of the Customs Union that came in effect on 6 July 2010, BelTA learnt from the information service of the National Bank.
Before the agreement was enacted, individuals could only carry cash of under $3,000 without declaration, the National Bank reminded. Now individuals are required to declare cash money and (or) traveller's cheques only if their total value exceeds $10,000 or the equivalent in other currencies. An individual can also declare cash money under $10,000 if he wishes so.
Thus, an individual can carry any amount of cash money while traveling to the Customs Union in accordance with the established procedure.
The National Bank reminds that the abovementioned agreement does not extend to the movement of cash money by legal persons. The movement of cash money and other money instruments as well as the money remittances are regulated by separate international agreements.
