Student: I am proud to be a Belarusian

I am proud to be born and to live in Belarus, Anastasia Morozova, a participant of the nationwide campaign We Are Citizens of Belarus!, a student of Vitebsk Gymnasium No.2, told BelTA.

On 10 March, Anastasia Morozova received her passport from the Belarusian head of state. “I had never even imagined that I would get the passport from the hands of the president. I had this unusual feeling, a mixture of anxiety and anticipation. I am a grown-up now and I understand that I must bear responsibility for my decisions and actions,” Anastasia Morozova said. “I am proud to be born and live in Belarus. My country has done everything to provide education for the youth. A fine example is my gymnasium that is always improving,” she added.

Anastasia Morozova studies diligently and takes violin classes. She focuses on mathematics. “I want to enter Belarusian State University, my dream is to become a programmer and work in the Hi-Tech Park,” Anastasia Morozova said.

Student of Bykhov Secondary School No.1 Dmitry Ivanov was among the participants of the ceremony. “It is a very big day for me, I will remember it for a long time. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” he said. “I won the children’s mass media contest in [Belarus' national education and recuperation center] Zubryonok. I want to become a journalist, I am already in charge of the school newspaper,” Dmitry Ivanov added.

Yegor Savanets, a student of Oshmyany Gymnasium No.1, won the district stage of the olympiads in chemistry in biology. He plans to to go into medicine. “Today is a special day for me. I was very nervous and could not believe that I was given such an honor. My family and friends are very proud of me,” he noted.

Student of Khotynichi Secondary School Darya Shamrilo also attended the ceremony. She participated in the folk art festival Radavod. “I must admit that I had been preparing for this day for a long time. To receive my passport in the Palace of Independence is a great honor and responsibility. It is a very significant event for my family,” the student said.

The nationwide campaign We Are Citizens of Belarus! timed to Constitution Day will be running in Belarus through 15 March under the motto #raZAm. The campaign will bring together more than 4,000 young Belarusians. They will receive their passports from the heads of government agencies, public figures, and honorary citizens of the country.

The official events of the patriotic campaign will traditionally be held in the Modern Belarusian Statehood Museum, the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, the State Control Committee, and the Constitutional Court. It is symbolic that the campaign will wrap up in the Constitutional Court on 15 March. The campaign was launched in 2004 on the initiative of the BRSM Youth Union.
