Lukashenko may sack government for country’s instability

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian government will be fired if they fail to secure stability in the country, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the government session held on 27 May to discuss the situation on the consumer market and the foreign currency market. “If you have calculated the value of foreign currency precisely, if you think that Br5,000 will do away with speculative demand, go ahead with the single exchange rate. But progress must be secured every day. Without changes you, Mikhail Vladimirovich [Myasnikovich] and Piotr Petrovich [Prokopovich], will be the first ones to retire,” said the President. Alexander Lukashenko said he wanted everyone sabotaging decisions of the country’s leadership closely monitored. “If we have decided that no one can capitalize on problems and someone does that, use any measures: revoke licenses, put them in jail,” said the President. The head of state told those present at the session that he had no intention of firing anyone yet. “But I warn you: if you don’t fulfill my instructions, heads will roll. You will not make me do the job of a crisis manager anymore. Everyone has its job, get on with it!” stressed the President. “Remember one thing: they will not leave us alone. We knew it in the middle of the previous year. We were warned that we will be taught a lesson in April-May. It has been done. It started with gossips and evolved into frenzied buying. It is a good thing it has not evolved into a war like in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Spain, Greece, and so on,” the head of state noted. “Wake up and come to your senses if you want to live in a calm country,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko. The President said that it was obvious who was instigating the frenzy, willing to grab all the best things Belarus has. “They want the [corporate] assets! Money in advance and then we will deliver,” said the head of state.
